At the time, Paris-based newsletters tended to target the Parisian inner circle, viewing global events through a purely French lens.
In 1981, Maurice Botbol chose a different path and launched La Lettre de l'océan Indien. His goal: to cover East Africa from offshore and publish articles simultaneously in both French AND English.
